The Brand Introduces a Groundbreaking New Feature in Its Upcoming Models: AI Image to Video
Honor is introducing a major new feature set to debut in its upcoming smartphone models, and its name is clear and bold: AI Image to Video.
The company revealed its ambitious artificial intelligence plans at the Mobile World Congress, which include a massive $10 billion investment in AI development. The first step in this long-term initiative is a new photo animation feature powered by Google’s latest generative model, Veo 2.
Bringing Your Photos to Life
For now, the feature appears to be exclusive to Honor’s upcoming flagship devices—the Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro—which are scheduled for launch on May 22. However, since the feature relies on an external AI model, it’s likely to become available on other devices in the near future.
So, what exactly does this feature do?
AI Image to Video allows users to select any photo from their smartphone gallery and use Google’s AI to imagine what the subject(s) might be doing if they were in motion. The process takes approximately two minutes, resulting in a five-second video loop that reimagines the still image in a dynamic, lifelike way.
Imagine your child blowing out candles on a birthday cake, completing a missed skateboarding trick, or reliving the flash of lightning during a thunderstorm—these are just a few of the countless possibilities. However, access to this feature will be limited for users without a Google subscription.
Subscription Required After Two Months
There is a catch: because this feature depends on Google’s cloud infrastructure, it will eventually require a Google One AI Premium subscription, which costs €22.99 per month. This subscription also includes 2TB of Google Drive storage and full access to Gemini, Google’s advanced AI suite and a strong competitor to ChatGPT.
That said, early adopters of the Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro will enjoy two months of free access, with a limit of ten uses per day. That’s plenty of opportunity to experiment with the feature and breathe new life into your favorite photos.
A Busy Month Ahead for Honor
May is shaping up to be an eventful month for Honor. Just days ago, the company introduced the first model in its new lineup: the budget-friendly Honor 400 Lite.
